In the green morning
I wanted to be a heart.
A heart.
And in the ripe evening
I wanted to be a nightingale.
A nightingale.
(Soul,
turn orange-colored.
Soul,
turn the color of love.)
In the vivid morning
I wanted to be myself.
A heart.
And at the evening's end
I wanted to be my voice.
A nightingale.
turn orange-colored.
Soul,
turn the color of love.
The message Federico, in my opinion, is trying to convey is how someone wants to be a heart but in the afternoon wants to be a Nightingale. The “heart” represent the love the character might have toward someone but in the end wants to fly away and wishes to be a bird. Federico uses the symbol “soul” that helps his consciousness feel better over the problem he is facing. The “vivid morning” tells that it was happiness in the beginning but it is contradicting when in the future he or she wants to fly away. The color of love is symbolism remembrance of the past.
ReplyDeleteIn my point of view I think that the writer is trying to say that wants to be something different at a certain time. Maybe he has different places that he goes and wants to become what he wants to be.For example at some point he wants to be heart which means that he wants to love or he wants someone else to love him. At another time he wants to be himself because maybe he is with people he feels comfortable with but is scared.

ReplyDeleteFederico Garcia Lorca describes the character in his poem as to having two personalities.
In the morning he/she wants to be a heart, in the evening a nightingale.
Heart symbolizes affection, love and sometimes weakness.
A nightingale is a bird. If the character wants to be a bird then, like victor said, he/she wants to fly away at evening. He might fly away from his love. Having these feelings and wanting to be both show how difficult of a relationship the character is in. He/she doesn't know what to do and is left with wanting to be "heart" in the morning and "nightingale" at evening. Should he/she leave or stay?

ReplyDeleteFrom the first stanza, I can feel that the setting is in the morning of the spring. It shows on the first line “green morning”. Green is the best word to represent the season of the spring. Morning and spring, they both represent new start and new beginning. The author uses those two words to show that he desires to have a new beginning to be whatever he wants to be. The author said he wanted to be a heart in the green morning, that means he wants to have a new beginning of his love, he desires a new relationship and hope it will be a good one.
ReplyDeleteTo Me Federico is symbolizing some sort of fruit when he describes the morning as "green" and evening as "ripe". He uses fruit because fruit transforms just like he transforms from being a closed heart to an open nightingale. In the fourth and fifth stanza the author describes himself as a heart and his voice as a nightingale. He uses heart because its something inside of you and voice is something that comes out freely like a nightingale The Author is in love and when he is not with her/him her/his heart is normal like the color orange, but when they are together his heart glows red which symbolizes love.
ReplyDelete"In the green morning I wanted to be a heart. A heart." signifies that Federico Lorca wants to be simple living and just be himself in the mornings.Although in the ripe evening where things are ripe and suitable or appropriate he wants to be a nightingale a bird that sings freely at night. He desires to be in peace and enter a world of his own and be free.He wishes to enjoy himself in a place where no one can judge him.I think what he means by soul turn orange and the color of love; my perception of this was the color wheel orange is between yellow and red.I guess at first he is in the middle feeling normal then it turns red the color of love, which means he reached the highest level of happiness.
